Bridgehampton

Three Reasons Why Equestrians Love Bridgehampton

Stretching across Long Island’s South Fork, the Hamptons have long been regarded as a top vacation destination and luxury residential area. Known for stunning beaches, the Hamptons are synonymous with upscale living, but few realize that the area is filled with equestrian facilities and horse trainers, too. Dozens of stables are spread across villages like Bridgehampton and Water Mill, encouraging children and adults alike to master their skills and take to the show ring.

If you’re interested in investing in Hamptons real estate but want to know more about what local horse enthusiasts can take part in, keep reading for three reasons why equestrians love calling the village of Bridgehampton home.

1. The local stables

Homes for sale in the Hamptons are close to some of the area’s top equestrian centers, and Bridgehampton is no exception. The local stables are a leading reason equestrians choose to relocate to the area, as they offer boarding, training, and practicing facilities. Equestrians of all levels can participate in the services provided by these stables, whether they’re looking to improve their technique or want regular opportunities to compete. If you’re looking for Hamptons real estate suitable for equestrian enthusiasts, have a look at the selection of stables and facilities available in Bridgehampton:

The Northern Ridge Stables are located in the southern part of Bridgehampton and offer lessons for riders of all ages. They are a full-service boarding facility with indoor and outdoor rings, experienced groomers, and a large exercise field. Horses boarded at the Northern Ridge Stables are treated with great attention and care. The stable occasionally has horses for sale or lease and participates in several horse shows throughout the year. The Hampton Classic, The Old Salem Farm Show, and The Princeton Summer Classic are just a few of the most popular.

Two Trees Stables

Another excellent local stable is Two Trees Stables, located east of town on Hayground Road. A true example of a luxury equine facility, Two Trees has been regarded as one of the top equestrian estates in the Northeast. The 65-acre property houses two covered arenas, polo fields, several horse barns, and a number of paddocks for grazing and exercise. The onsite farmhouse is a beautifully renovated 18th-century home of more than 3,800 square feet. In addition to lessons and boarding, the stables have also hosted polo competitions.

The Silver Tide Stable

Further north, those looking into Hamptons real estate will find the Silver Tide Stable on Meadow Court. Silver Tide Stable provides private lessons throughout the week for riders of all experience levels. Their indoor training ring, outdoor arena, and expansive fields are perfect for mastering all the essential equestrian skills. The stables also put together a pony camp where children can go on trail rides, volunteer at local rescues, learn how to care for horses, and attend riding clinics. For riders wanting to put their growing skills to the test, the Silver Tide Stables team attends several horse shows throughout the year.

Swan Creek Horse Farm

Another facility that horse-lovers shopping for homes for sale in the Hamptons will fall in love with is the beautiful Swan Creek Horse Farm, an establishment on Halsey Lane that specializes in training and showing horses for AA competitions and provides boarding services as well. Situated across 40 acres of land, Swan Creek provides horses with large and small turn-out fields and paddocks for medical treatments and rehabilitation. The farm features two outdoor rings and a grass hunt course. Their indoor riding ring is exceptional and has a heated room for viewing. With more than 50 years of experience, Swan Creek Horse Farm continues to provide riding lessons to children and adults looking to master the art of equestrianism.

2. The Hampton Classic Horse Show

Aside from the many beautiful stables and farms in Bridgehampton, the iconic equestrian event of the area is the Hampton Classic Horse Show, a Grand Prix event that takes place in Bridgehampton every Labor Day. The Hampton Classic is an impressive display of some of the country’s top show jumpers and a celebration to close out the summer season. The show is considered one of the top social events in the Hamptons and one of America's largest outdoor shows. For 40 years, the show has captivated horse lovers, showcased riders of all ages, and featured more than 200 individual competitions. From kids’ activities to Olympic-level contests, the Hampton Classic is a weekend adventure with a little bit of everything, culminating in the Grand Prix itself, with a grand prize of over $400,000.

3. Numerous equine properties

It’s one thing to board your horse at a well-known stable in town, but what if you could keep your horse a little closer? In addition to the training facilities and show opportunities, equestrians love Bridgehampton's many equine-friendly properties. These properties with large acreage allow horse owners to control how their animals are trained and exercised. They can have a hands-on approach to their horses’ care and spend more time working with them. Not to mention that these properties provide expansive, serene environments for riders and their horses to unwind and rest after competitions or in-between training.
